The New 2024 Chevy Silverado HD 1500 ZR2 Preview

When most Jamestown drivers think of Chevy Silverado, words like “rugged” and “dependable” come to mind. There’s a good reason for this. The Chevrolet brand has built the Silverado model into a prototype of the perfect work truck, allowing it to demonstrate its reliability and constantly meet demands on and off the job site year after year. At Basil Chevrolet Inc., we’ve become accustomed to providing the Silverado in the highest quality trims for the best prices.
With 2024 models rolling quickly off assembly lines, there promises to be a new player in the Silverado game. If the king of the job site wasn’t enough, Chevy also wants the Silverado to take the honors for the best off-road vehicle as well. And with the looks of this newest trim, the ZR2 and the ZR2 Bison – this shouldn’t be a problem at all. This year, they’ll even be getting the Silverado 2500 and 3500 in on the action. For the first time, these two HD models will come in offroad-ready options, excellent for drivers who want to boldly navigate where no Silverado has gone before.
New Trim, Same Performance Options, Unlimited Possibilities
The ZR2 and the ZR2 Bison will feature two separate drivetrain options. The first, which comes as a gas-powered 6.6L V8, offering up 401 HP and 464 lb-ft of torque, allows you to unleash incredible power from the get-go. The alternative, a 6.6L diesel-powered option, comes with 470 HP and a whopping 975 lb-ft of torque. The V8 delivers a payload capacity of 3,759 lbs and a bone-crushing 18,700 lbs of towing capability. The TurboDiesel takes things to another level with a towing capacity of 22,500 lbs! Believe it or not, the 2500 and 3500 are only a sample of what’s in store for the Silverado.
The ZR2: Made for Off-Roading Glory
A far more capable powertrain, along with AWD, just barely scratches the surface when it comes to off-road adventure. Receptive suspension, higher ground clearance, and upgraded tires begin to round the package out. Chevy doesn’t give just any truck the ZR2 badge; it must meet specific criteria that custom off-road enthusiasts expect from their rigs. You can bet your money that Chevy didn’t disappoint. Here’s what you can expect:
- 35-inch tires
- 11.6-inch elevated ground clearance
- Additional two-inch lift
- Two-stage independent rear and front suspensions
- Multiple terrain modes
- Custom dampers
- Aluminum skid plate
If that wasn’t enough, you’ve got the ZR2 Bison as well.
Features Unique to the ZR2 Bison
The highest upgrade, the ZR2 Bison, features its own special set of features, including:
- Assistance modeling parts by AEV (American Expedition Vehicles)
- 18-inch wheels by AEV
- Sturdy front bumper and skid plate
- Unique paint options!
