homelink

If your Chevy car, truck or SUV is equipped with HomeLink®, you may be wondering about the benefits of this feature. What is HomeLink®? This wireless control system built into your vehicle allows you to do the following:

  • Open and close garage doors or automatic gates
  • Activate/deactivate home security systems
  • Turn on/off home interior and exterior lights, appliances, and other in-home electronics

If you have questions about the HomeLink® system or how to get this feature set up in your Chevy vehicle, Basil Chevrolet Inc. has provided a guide below.

Advantages of HomeLink®

Still wondering, “What is HomeLink®?” There are plenty of reasons to select a new Chevy with this innovative feature:

  • Ease of Use: Connecting your vehicle to your home just takes a few simple steps.
  • Compatibility: HomeLink® is compatible with nearly all garage door openers and gate systems, in addition to a plethora of other radio-frequency (RF) controlled devices.
  • Control Up to 3 Devices: You can control up to three devices with the HomeLink® system, which is seamlessly integrated into your Chevy.
  • Safety & Security: Wondering if your garage door has been left open or closed? HomeLink® can let you know remotely. HomeLink® apps let you control other devices in your home like your lights or security system. When you are away from home in Jamestown, HomeLink® gives you added peace of mind.
  • Battery-Free: HomeLink® is powered by the electrical system in your Chevy, so you never have to worry about having to change the batteries.

How to Program HomeLink®

Westfield Chevy drivers can program the HomeLink® system in a matter of minutes. Simply follow the steps below to get started using HomeLink®.

  1. The HomeLink® unit features 3 buttons, and you will typically find it on the ceiling of your Chevy above the center console. Press and hold down the first and third buttons until the interior lights of your car begin to flash. This step generally takes about 20 seconds. **Note: Pressing the first and third buttons is the master reset. You do not need to press these buttons when subsequently connecting additional devices.
  2. When the ceiling lights flash, press and hold the button you wish to program while also holding the open/close button on your garage door opener. The lights should go from a slow to rapid flash, which lets you know that the device has been programmed.
  3. Go into your garage and press the “learn” button on your garage door opener.
  4. Go back to your vehicle to press the programmed button on your car for a minimum of two seconds. When it starts to connect, it is possible that the lights on your garage door opener will flash.
